Job Code: CC508
GNF is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow for research in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) using functional genomic and chemical biological approaches. SMA is a neurodegenerative disease that is the most common genetic cause of infant mortality. We seek to find genes that modulate the expression, splicing, and stability of the SMN2 gene, whose functional upregulation could serve as a treatment for SMA. Genes and compounds will be characterized in SMA motor neuron models derived from embryonic stem cells. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in neurobiology or cell biology or a related field, a strong publication record, and be highly motivated. Experience in motor neuron biology is a plus.
