We are seeking a highly motivated scientific associate to be a key member of the Protein Sciences department. The successful candidate will support protein therapeutic programs and will have a B.S. or M.S. degree in biology or biochemistry, with at least two years of laboratory experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for molecular cloning, protein expression, purification and biochemical characterization of proteins.
Experience in the following techniques is highly desirable:
- Basic molecular cloning, including PCR, RT-PCR, plasmid preparation, sequence analyses
- Protein expression using bacterial systems, Baculovirus infection of Sf9 insect cells, and transient transfection in mammalian cells
- Protein purification techniques using various chromatography methods
- Basic techniques for analytical protein characterization, including HPLC, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, and protein assays
- High throughput technologies and automation
Excellent communication, organizational, and record keeping skills (with an attention to detail) are essential. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and be goal and team oriented.
