Description:

OVERALL PURPOSE & SCOPE: 
The IT Asset Specialist assists with establishing, implementing and maintaining an asset management and license compliance program that ensures accurate inventories of IT owned and supported hardware and software assets, adhering to the licensing requirements of the suppliers and IT management team. Also, serve as an interface between the Institutes end-user community and Department of Information Technology support staff.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a dynamic team player with excellent written and verbal skills, is a self starter, very detail oriented and takes direction well. More specific work responsibilities include: Support end of life considerations to ensure a healthy environment and appropriate disposal of assets; conducting periodic audits to ensure tangible and intangible assets can be accurately tied to book assets; building relationships with groups to ensure continuous communication, education and training associated with implemented campus-wide assets; Implement a license compliance program that minimizes business risk and maximizes process efficiency; analyzing and addressing business needs in terms of asset management and license compliance and identifying areas to gain efficiencies; maintain regular contact with outside suppliers to optimize the procurement of software; maintain current knowledge of software changes and planning for changes in response to dynamic business needs; and obtain and maintain regular contact with outside suppliers to optimize the procurement of IT hardware and consumables.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor's degree in Business or Technology discipline is preferred
•Minimum 5 years asset management work experience
•Minimum 3 years of working knowledge with Asset Management tools such as Altiris, preferred
•Minimum 5 years working knowledge of software business issues, including software contracts, software licensing mechanisms, and supplier sales and marketing tactics
•A solid understanding of accounting principles and standards for modeling and tracking software expenditures
•Experience using Microsoft Office Programs, including Excel and also SQL databases
•Working knowledge of Altiris Asset Management Systems, preferred
ITIL Foundation Certification, desired
