The Protein Sciences division of the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation is seeking an investigator to support protein therapeutics and drug discovery projects.  The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of scientific and technological innovation and an eagerness to work as part of a collaborative team discovering novel therapeutics.  The position will involve the use of biochemical, molecular and cellular techniques to produce proteins and to characterize proteins of therapeutic interest.

Requirements:
•Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related discipline, with 1 to 4 years of relevant post-doctoral work and a demonstrated record of scientific achievement
•Broad experience in protein expression systems, protein purification and analytical characterization of proteins is required.
•Well-versed in technical approaches used for molecular biology (cloning, PCR, RT-PCR), cell biology (tissue culture and heterologous expression), chromatography methods (FPLC, HPLC) and analytical biochemistry (LC-MS, DSC, DLS, and/or ITC).
•Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, interpret, and troubleshoot experiments.
•Highly motivated, innovative researcher capable of critical thinking and ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
•Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills are required. 
•Experience with high throughput technologies and laboratory automation for protein expression and purification is a plus.
•Prior drug discovery experience in a biotech or pharma setting is desirable.
