Collaborative science is the foundation upon which GNF is built. At the institute, researchers work within interdisciplinary teams as well as with colleagues at Novartis to pursue innovative basic, translational, and drug discovery research.
GNF also actively seeks scientific collaborations with external researchers. For example, numerous individual GNF scientists collaborate with researchers at various academic institutions. GNF also participates in federally-funded research efforts such as the Protein Structure Initiative as a member of the Joint Center for Structural Genomics. Additionally, GNF is currently working with a number of non-profit foundations, such as the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, the Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne and a newly announced partnership against malaria that includes the Wellcome Trust and the Medicines for Malaria Venture.
As a result of its basic and translational research efforts, GNF is continually creating new technologies, many of which have commercial applications. For example, GNF Systems was started to commercially manufacture high throughput instrumentation developed by GNF’s Engineering group. Further information on GNF Systems can be found here. GNF welcomes additional licensing and commercialization inquires, as these opportunities provide a valuable source of funding to support our research programs. Please send such inquires to BD@gnf.org.
