In August 2009, JDRF and GNF entered into a novel collaborative research agreement to create a diabetes drug discovery platform. This four-year program is one of the largest and most comprehensive collaborations in the 40 year history of JDRF, a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide and the largest charitable funder and advocate of Type 1 Diabetes research.
The partnership between JDRF and GNF aims to develop a series of clinical candidates. Initial efforts are focused on developing therapies that promote pancreatic beta cell regeneration and survival. GNF and JDRF have seeded the pipeline with several existing programs at GNF. GNF and JDRF seek to build upon this pipeline through collaborations with leading diabetes investigators.
