A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated scientist interested in regenerative medicine with an especial emphasis in cardiovascular and renal disease areas at the Genomic Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF, Novartis). The objective of the project is to identify and manipulate novel mechanisms underlying aging and organ regeneration.
The successful candidate will be embedded in a highly dynamic research group focusing on understanding kidney disease and repair by leveraging complex co-culture and organoid models. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-art equipment, high throughput technologies and proprietary genomics tools at GNF. The ideal candidate should have outstanding communication and writing skills, strong passion and commitment to science and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.

Research and develop new co-culture models projects to ascertain the role of paracrine signaling in renal disease and fibrosis.
Investigate the role of endothelial cell dysfunction in the context of renal disease and diabetes.
Communicate and present your data to project teams and keep a precise, concise and accessible record of all experiments.
Communicate and disseminate your data to the larger scientific community by attending conferences and publishing research manuscripts.
What you will bring to the role:
PhD Degree in Biology, Pharmacology or similar area including MD and MD/PhD holders.
A strong track record of innovating through in vitro studies. Extensive hands on experience with basic molecular biology techniques is expected.
Must have experience in basic statistical/analytics tools.
Must be able to work independently for screening the literature and proposing new experimental strategies.
Must have extensive cell culture experience including the use of human cell lines and primary cells.
Co-culture, stem cell and/organoid culture experience is desirable but not required.
