At GNF, the mission of the Cancer Therapeutics Department is to discover safe and effective therapeutics for oncology indications. We are recruiting a Principal Scientist I or II to design and execute novel drug discovery programs using our state-of-the-art platforms and cutting-edge technologies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cancer biology and extensive in vitro laboratory experience. He or she may line manage one or more associates and will collaborate effectively within highly-matrixed multidisciplinary teams to deliver first-in-class small molecule or biologic clinical candidates. Preference will be given to candidates with deep expertise in cancer cell-autonomous pathways.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 Utilize GNF and Novartis state-of-the-art technologies and strengths of expertise to design first-in-class cancer drug discovery projects
 Develop and drive drug discovery projects in collaboration with colleagues in bioinformatics, chemistry, in vivo pharmacology, high-throughput screening, biologics/biotherapeutics, pharmacokinetics, engineering, project management, and other disciplines as appropriate
 Lead the design, development, and execution of in vitro cellular and biochemical assays
 Present strategies and results regularly to colleagues, management, and other stakeholders
 Contribute to discussions of ongoing and proposed drug discovery projects and approaches
 Potentially line manage one or more direct reports, DOE

What you’ll bring to the role:

 Ph.D. in cancer biology or a related field
 3+ years of post-doctoral experience (industry or academia)
 Experience and/or publication record demonstrating a deep understanding of cancer biology, thorough knowledge of current related literature, and familiarity with cutting edge laboratory methodologies
 Fluency in cell biology bench techniques, biochemical assays, and relevant software; molecular biology, profiling, and data-mining experience preferred
 Strong scientific and organizational leadership skills
 Innovation and scientific creativity; the ability to address challenging biological problems with scientifically sound approaches
 Outstanding communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills
 A desire to make a positive impact in a highly-interactive and fast-paced environment
 A commitment to excellence, quality, and integrity
