As Manager of Operational Excellence at GNF you will be responsible for developing and supporting opportunities in Operational Excellence in a research environment through the use of Project Management, Continuous Improvement and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. You will identify areas of improvement in partnership with key operational and scientific stakeholders across GNF and other global sites. You will be required to influence activities across multiple functions to deliver results for the organization. In this key role you will focus on delivering projects on time and in budget and also identify improvements which enable individuals and teams to successfully implement solutions, with a focus on processes and tools. In this role you will have the potential to be a highly visible, high-impact team member, providing the opportunity for the individual to grow in line with results delivered.

Your major accountabilities in this role will be to:

Project Management

• Manages and monitors assigned projects as well as coordinates site/global cross-functional project teams to deliver project results based on objectives and priorities.
• Supports projects by monitoring and controlling time, budget and quality of results as well as serving, where applicable, as the single-point communication between teams.
• Supports teams by timely organizing activities – particularly from the scientific interface perspective - linked to the projects, with other internal functions, such as Procurement, Facilities, HSE, Finance, Lab Operations, etc.
• In collaboration with the project teams, builds and maintains the multi-disciplinary project plan. Identifies, monitors the milestones, deliverables, critical path of the project, and clearly communicates risks/opportunities.
• Seeks timely progress for actions and resolution to issues. Follows-up on critical action items and alerts all stakeholders of potential roadblocks or delays.

Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement

• Develop process improvement initiatives across the GNF organization, utilizing and aligning with US and global program and opportunities. Involvement with operations capability and environment (e.g., technology, systems, safety, lab operations, compliance, procurement, cost, efficiencies) in order to recommend process improvements.
• Support the development of lean processes; continuous improvement, standard work, problem solving, value stream mapping, training and employee involvement.
• Modeling and driving problem solving capability into organization
• Teach and coach associates at all levels on lean processes.
• Lead continuous improvement events resulting in associate skill and knowledge development and KPI performance improvements.
• Using tracking and reporting systems, prepare plans, drive performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of product/process quality and savings goals

What you’ll bring to the role:

• A university degree in technical or business discipline, science preferred
• 6-Sigma Certified Green Belt or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in OpEx activities with proven experience driving change management in an organization
• Strong working knowledge of lean processes, applied statistics, 6 Sigma and problem solving
• Very good level of communication and coaching skills
• Project management experience
