Inventing solutions where none exist! As part of the engineering team, the role of the Mechanical Assembly Technician I is to assemble and fabricate new technology for drug discovery and commercialization. GNF is undertaking innovative and challenging drug discovery efforts and we need your help to enable this amazing science which will discover new medicines for patients. The GNF engineering team is an essential contributor and partner to the science, inventing solutions where none exist as well as commercializing technology to further feed drug discovery. Our scientists increasingly recognize the impact engineering can have on research programs and are eager for you to put your stamp on it.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
• Precision assembly of mechanical systems and sub-systems with emphasis in mechanical, electrical and pneumatic components.
•Works under close supervision within well-established practices and clearly defined scope of work
• Takes demonstrated initiative on minimal problem solving within assigned tasks
• Interpret and use of assembly drawings
• Understands how to safely use general shop tools and utilizes hand tools, power drivers, etc.
• Use measuring equipment to inspect for accuracy
• Accurately record and submit work hours
• General shop upkeep

What you’ll bring to the role:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience
• General mechanical background
• Exceptional communication skills (e.g. email, memos, explanations, drawings) especially with Supervisor and fellow team members.
• Can work effectively with peers
• Position will be filled at level commensurate with experience
